Wade Rowland's essay is more relevant now than ever--to CBC Radio and to Canada
As some of you have seen on other media, I've been using this image to publicize one of the best essays LLP has published in its 14-year history: Wade Rowland’s magisterial essay on public broadcasting, Canada Lives Here: The Case for Public Broadcasting.
But this is a banner not just for Wade Rowland's book but also for the times we're living through, here in Canada. And not only to promote the CBC, much as we love and appreciate the CBC, and need it now more than ever, but also to promote Canada, our home on native land. Vive le Canada !
We never thought we'd live through times like these, as a punching bag for this abominable American administration, but here we are, and it's time to stand up for the CBC, and for Canada.
The book title was Wade's idea, knowing that CBC Radio had used those words for years until 2015—the year we launched his book.
Nowadays, CBC Radio is using a different line: CBC RADIO. ALWAYS HERE FOR CANADA.
Reassuring, perhaps, but not, I would suggest, as good a line as:
CANADA LIVES HERE
